Both Minneapolis and Saint Paul were built along the river for easy access to shipping and goods. As the population diversified, the cities expanded outward, eventually resembling their initial river areas only remotely.
My idea was to reflect this expansion process through a family of typefaces. The base structure would be a sans-serif typeface, capable of handling day to day duties (similar to the initial river areas) paired with a display version to represent the newer diversified areas of the city.
