Studio Profile

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota the Process Type Foundry specializes in the design and distribution of contemporary, original typefaces. Our work ranges from the publicly available typefaces featured here to exclusive custom fonts for clients ranging from Chevrolet to the Walker Art Center. Our work has been featured in PRINT, étapes, HOW, Metropolis, CAP&Design and STEP magazines as well as the book Metro Letters.


Eric Olson

Named by PRINT magazine as one of the New Visual Artists for 2004, Eric is the principal and lead designer of the Process Type Foundry. In the past, he taught typography at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), held an assistant design fellowship at the University of Minnesota Design Institute and served as a designer at the Walker Art Center.

Nicole Dotin

Nicole is co-principal and “the logic” behind the foundry. She started her career as a graphic designer for non-profits and later taught typography and web design at MCAD. She holds an MA from the University of Reading in typeface design and an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Visual Studies. Her typeface Elena is scheduled to be released in late 2008.

Erin Hauber

Based in Los Angeles, California, Erin is the newest addition to the foundry focusing her efforts on public relations and marketing. She has built her career working with artists, small businesses and cultural institutions to develop clear and relevant communication strategies across a variety of media. Erin also manages a small graphic design studio and teaches typography in LA.
